  1. It's a damn shame that tattoo removal costs money. I mean buy a book of how to write chinese characters. they're probably cheaper than the tatto and then you can be sure that you get the character write. Oh well, I though in the beginning that this site was funny, now it's just getting painful to see all these mistakes. And if the companies are getting it wrong... well lots of pictures for Hanzi Smatter then

  2. I remember looking at some henna (temporary) tattoo designs on the street in San Francisco. I was with a friend who had studied Japanese with me and we both recognized a few were just wrong- love (ai) being one of them. We pointed it out to the artist who then asked us to write it correctly for her. I told her if she wanted good-looking caligraphy she really doesn't want to learn from 2nd year Japanese language students! Makes me wonder where some of these tattoo designs come from...

  3. About a quarter of the world's population is Chinese. If one really wants a Chinese character tatooed, throw and rock and you may just find a Chinese guy who can help you out. I'd imagine Chinese people are even easier to find in SF, what it being the largest Chinatown and all...

  4. That tattoo doesn't even look straight. The two chinese characters look like they are slanting off to the left.

  6. That's actually a REALLY common mistake made even by Chinese themselves. So you can't blame them.
