This young man probably did not have a Chinese-speaking friend to verify the tattoo for him.

(friend) is missing a horizontal stroke.

Use "HANZI2006" to save 10% on any t-shirt purchase at, and save 25% for 3 shirts or more.

  1. Nice calligraphy though! He could still save the situation by getting the horizontal stroke added..

I only know Japanese - What do these hanzi mean?

  2. Despite the missing stroke, those are some of the more attractive characters I've seen on your site. And it can be fixed. I'd say it's a triumph among hanzi tattoos...

  3. The hanzi can be easily fixed, but those two phrases doesn't make much sense.

  4. The coloration of the tattoos makes them somewhat interesting, but isn't it a sad commentary when a "misspelling" of a character is considered praiseworthy because it's a good effort -- if the shoe was on the other foot and the person had "fried" instead of "friend," I wouldn't think it was a nice tatt regardless of the calligraphy.
