Yusuki Toyoda and I are both scratching our heads about the meaning of Kim Maher's tattoo posted in Sports Illustrated's website.

As far as I know Kim Maher is not in any way related to Bill Maher, who has commented about the trend of Chinese character tattoos. Her tattoo of 康女止功流 is loosely translated as "healthy woman stops achievement flow".
Ten to one it's AsianFont+someone's name.
ReplyDeleteThis tattoo looks off-center in relation to her neck, which makes me think that perhaps we're only seeing part of it. I wouldn't be surprised if there was more to that tattoo underneath her hair.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the 女 in that "asian font" is easy recognizable.
ReplyDeleteEven if there was more under her hair, would it suddenly make sense?
ReplyDeleteGod, that's hideous. Trashy, even.
ReplyDeleteSo with the help of the chart that Alan Siegrist came up with, it turns out that this is the dreaded "Asian Font" -- spelling out MAHER.
ReplyDelete(with a tip of the hat to pepperjackcandy for pointing this out)
I have to agree...it does look trashy. The fact that it does not even make sense is even more of a reason she should cover it up!
