異國情調 would mean "exotic atmosphere".
Use "HANZI2006" to save 10% on any t-shirt purchase at Jlist.com, and save 25% for 3 shirts or more.
Ha! That would certainly be an exceedingly polite and obtuse way of describing something best left unmentioned... (-_-)
ReplyDelete異國=different country
ReplyDeleteso it means

ReplyDeleteIf broken into its parts, "yìguó qíngdiào" (異國情調) would mean "foreign country" and "mood". But, as a whole, "exotic atmosphere" is indeed the correct translation.
hm... may be my definition of "exotic" is not very good? I thought of 異乎尋常?
ReplyDeleteWhere I come from (Southern China), it's more natural to say 異國風情. Is 異國情調 supposed to be more commonly used in Taiwan or Hong Kong?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
